EXTERIORIZATION

The state of the thetan being outside his body. When this is done, the person achieves a certainty that he is himself and not his body.

From the AOGP Abridged Scientology Dictionary — based on original LRH source materials, updated through 1982.

Usage

When a person exteriorizes during auditing, the thetan moves outside the body, and the individual achieves a direct certainty that they are themselves — a spiritual being — and not their body. This experience is distinct from any intellectual understanding of the concept.

Why It Matters

Exteriorization is a significant milestone in auditing because it provides the individual with personal certainty of their existence as a thetan separate from the body. This realization fundamentally shifts a person's understanding of their own nature and spiritual identity.
