THETAN EXTERIOR
A person who is outside his body and knows it, but who is not yet steady out there. If the body were hurt he would be straight back in. He is a being who is no longer under the body's influence.

Usage
Someone who exteriorizes during a session and finds himself looking at the room from a different position is a thetan exterior at that moment. Being able to stay out reliably is a further step.
Why It Matters
The word "exterior" is doing the work: he is out, and he knows he is out. Making that stable is what the later procedures are for.
