THETA-MEST THEORY
The idea, put forward in the autumn of 1950, that life is a no-substance thing set against a physical universe which is all substance — and that the nothingness is what gives the orders to the somethingness. Where the two meet and interact, you get living things.

Usage
It was first offered as an explanation for something observed in auditing: one part of the mind being interested and another part merely being interesting. It was put forward openly as a theory, not as a conclusion.
Why It Matters
This is the hinge on which the whole subject turns from being about the mind to being about the person. Everything to do with the thetan follows from it.
