FACSIMILE

A mental copy of one's perceptions of the physical universe sometime in the past, and also known as a mental image picture.

From the AOGP Abridged Scientology Dictionary — based on original LRH source materials, updated through 1982.

Usage

When a person recalls a past event, they are accessing a facsimile — a mental copy of their perceptions of the physical universe from that moment. In auditing, the preclear examines facsimiles to locate and address areas of charge on the time track.

Why It Matters

Facsimiles are the basic units of mental recording and form the content of both the analytical and reactive minds. Understanding how facsimiles work is essential to understanding how past experiences influence present behavior.
