FILE CLERK
The part of the mind that finds and hands over the right memory when it is asked for. It works like a filing clerk in an office: ask for something and it produces the file, usually instantly and without your having to search.

Usage
When an auditor asks a question and an answer arrives immediately, before the person has thought about it, that is the file clerk handing it over. Auditors learn to take those instant answers rather than the reasoned ones that follow.
Why It Matters
Everybody uses this mechanism all day without noticing it, which is why it is named after an ordinary office job. Auditing works with it rather than around it.
