Usage

In Scientology, memory refers to any facsimiles of consciously perceived data that a person can recall, whether the individual created them or not. A person recounting what happened at yesterday's meeting is drawing on memory in this sense.

Why It Matters

Understanding memory as consisting of recallable facsimiles distinguishes it from deeper recordings in the reactive mind that are not consciously accessible. This distinction is important in auditing for knowing what the person can readily reach versus what requires processing to uncover.
