STRAIGHTWIRE

Auditing that uses straight memory. The auditor runs a line from now back to the moment something started, directly and without detours — the way you would string a telephone wire between two points. Seeing plainly that then was then and now is now, the person can let the condition go.

Usage

The auditor asks the person to remember when a particular condition first appeared. Finding out where something actually began puts it back under the person's own control.

Why It Matters

It is one of the oldest and gentlest forms of auditing, first used in 1950, and there are many versions of it for different areas of life. Its motto might be: discover where a condition really began and it comes under the person's control.
