FLATTEN A PROCESS
From the AOGP Abridged Scientology Dictionary — based on original LRH source materials, updated through 1982.
Usage
An auditor flattens a process by continuing to run it as long as it is producing change in the preclear, and ending it when a free needle appears on the E-Meter. Stopping a process before it is flat, or continuing past the free needle, can both cause problems for the preclear.
Why It Matters
Flattening a process ensures the preclear gets the full benefit of each auditing action. The free needle serves as the precise indicator that the process has been completed and must be ended immediately.
