MOCK-UP

A mental model, construction or picture created by a thetan. A mock-up is distinct from a facsimile in that it is created volitionally, does not necessarily copy any previous experience, and is under the control of the thetan.

From the AOGP Abridged Scientology Dictionary — based on original LRH source materials, updated through 1982.

Usage

In auditing or training, a thetan might be asked to create a mock-up — a mental model or picture made deliberately, not copied from any past experience. Unlike a facsimile, a mock-up is created volitionally and remains under the thetan's control.

Why It Matters

The ability to create and control mock-ups is a measure of a thetan's creative power and self-determinism. Restoring this ability is a key goal in Scientology processing, as it demonstrates the person's control over their own mental activity.
