MISSED WITHHOLD

An undisclosed contra-survival act which has been re-stimulated by another but not disclosed. This is a withhold which another person nearly found out about, leaving the person with the withhold in a state of wondering whether his hidden deed is known or not.

From the AOGP Abridged Scientology Dictionary — based on original LRH source materials, updated through 1982.

Usage

A person with a missed withhold has done something contra-survival that someone else almost found out about, leaving them in a state of uncertainty about whether the hidden act is known. This often shows up as the person becoming hostile or critical toward the one who nearly discovered the withhold.

Why It Matters

Missed withholds are significant because they create ongoing anxiety and can cause a person to attack or withdraw from those around them. Identifying and handling missed withholds in auditing resolves this restimulation and restores the person's comfort in their relationships.
