MINUS TONE SCALE

The sub-tones below the Emotional Tone Scale which are so low as to constitute by the individual a no-affinity, no-emotion, no-problem, no-consequence state of mind on things which are actually tremendously important.

From the AOGP Abridged Scientology Dictionary — based on original LRH source materials, updated through 1982.

Usage

A person operating on the minus tone scale would show no emotion, no sense of affinity, and no recognition of problems, even about things that are actually tremendously important to their survival. They appear to have no reaction at all to situations that should concern them.

Why It Matters

The minus tone scale represents tones so low they fall below the regular Emotional Tone Scale, making the person appear detached or indifferent. Recognizing these sub-tones is critical in auditing because the person may seem calm while actually being in a deeply suppressed state.
