WITHHOLD

An undisclosed contra-survival act. It is a no action after the fact of action, in which the individual has done or been an accessory to doing something which is a transgression against some moral or ethical code consisting of agreements to which the individual has subscribed in order to guarantee, with others, the survival of a group with which he or she is co-acting or has co-acted toward survival.

Usage

A withhold occurs when a person has committed a transgression against the moral or ethical code of their group and then conceals it. The person knows what they did but chooses not to disclose it, creating a no-action after the original harmful action.

Why It Matters

Withholds undermine a person's participation in a group because they must now guard against being found out. Auditing procedures that address withholds allow the person to disclose these hidden acts and restore their integrity within the group.
