E-METER

(Hubbard Electrometer) An electronic instrument for measuring mental state, mental mass and its presence or lack thereof, and change of state in individuals, as an aid to precision and speed in auditing. (The E-Meter is not intended or effective for the diagnosis, treatment or prevention of any disease.)

From the AOGP Abridged Scientology Dictionary — based on original LRH source materials, updated through 1982.

Usage

During an auditing session, the auditor uses the E-Meter to detect changes in the preclear's mental state and mental mass, helping to locate areas of charge that need to be addressed. The meter's readings guide the auditor in selecting and running processes with precision and speed.

Why It Matters

The E-Meter provides measurable feedback that makes auditing more precise, allowing the auditor to identify and address specific areas of mental charge rather than guessing. This instrument is a key aid in achieving faster and more accurate results in auditing sessions.
