GAMES CONDITION
Being stuck in a contest you did not choose and cannot leave. Your attention is fixed on it, you cannot get away from it and you cannot win it, and it crowds out everything else. There is nothing wrong with playing a game you know you are playing; the trouble is being in one without knowing it.

Usage
A person locked into a feud with a neighbour that he cannot drop and cannot settle is in a games condition. He would say he has a problem, not a game, which is exactly the point — he does not know he is playing.
Why It Matters
What makes it damaging is that it runs outside the person's own choice. Once he sees it as a game he is choosing to play, he has his choice back.
