GENERALITY
From the AOGP Abridged Scientology Dictionary — based on original LRH source materials, updated through 1982.
Usage
When someone says "everybody thinks you're wrong" or "things are always bad around here," they are using a generality — a non-specific, all-inclusive statement that either hides the actual cause or attempts to overwhelm. In Scientology, spotting generalities helps one identify vague or dishonest communication.
Why It Matters
Generalities obscure the specific source of a problem, making it difficult to address. Training people to recognize and challenge generalities leads to clearer communication and more effective problem-solving.
