DATA SERIES
A series of policy letters on how to think straight about information: how to tell sound data from unsound, how to spot the illogical, and how to trace a good or bad situation back to what is actually causing it. It is described simply as the tool for discovering causes.

Usage
Someone whose department keeps having the same trouble every month can use the Data Series to find the actual cause instead of treating each incident as new. The method is to compare what is happening against what should be happening and look at exactly where the two part company.
Why It Matters
Most bad decisions come from acting on wrong or incomplete information rather than from bad intentions. The Data Series is the drill for not doing that.
