GRANTING OF BEINGNESS
Being willing to let someone else be who he is. It is the plain act of allowing another person his own identity, his own views and his own space, without needing to correct him into something else.

Usage
A person who listens to a friend's opinion without immediately arguing him out of it is granting beingness. Someone who cannot do it finds every conversation turning into a correction.
Why It Matters
This is one of the simplest measures of how well a person is doing with other people. It costs nothing and is the ingredient most often missing in a difficult relationship.
