BOOK ONE

The everyday name for the first book published on Dianetics — Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health, released in May 1950 — and for the auditing methods described in it. People also say "Book One auditing" to mean auditing done with those original techniques.

Usage

Someone who says he was audited on Book One means he was audited using the techniques from that first 1950 book. The book itself is simply a description of how the mind works.

Why It Matters

Book One is where all of this begins, and it went onto the New York Times bestseller list within weeks of release. Everything that followed was built on the ground it laid.
