KNOWINGNESS

Simply knowing, without having to look anything up or work anything out. It is not information; it is being certain. You do not need a photograph of your house to know where you live — that is knowingness.

From the AOGP Abridged Scientology Dictionary — based on original LRH source materials, updated through 1982.

Usage

A person who has to check, re-check and gather evidence before he can be sure of something ordinary is running on data rather than on knowingness. As a person improves, more and more of what he knows he simply knows.

Why It Matters

Knowingness needs no time, no energy and no space to exist in, which is what marks it out from thinking. It is the natural state of a person as a spiritual being.
