CLEAR PROCEDURE
Any of several procedures worked out in 1957 and 1958 to take a person all the way from the lowest levels up to the state of Clear. Each one was a complete route rather than a single process.

Usage
An auditor following a Clear Procedure was not choosing processes as he went; he was following a published route from wherever the person started up to Clear. Several versions were issued as the route was improved.
Why It Matters
These procedures are the point at which reaching Clear became a mapped journey rather than a hope. The mapping itself later became the Grade Chart.

- CLEAR — (noun) A thetan who can be at cause knowingly and at will over mental matter, energy, space and time as regards the First Dynamic (survival for self).
- PROCESS — A set of questions asked by an auditor to help a person find out things about his or her life.
- PROCESSING — That action or actions, governed by the technical disciplines and codes of Scientology, of administering a process to a preclear in order to release or free him or her.
- PRE-CLEAR — This term covers anyone who is not a Clear; however, it is principally used to describe a person who, through Scientology processing, is finding out more about himself and life.
