CHRONIC SOMATIC
A pain or physical discomfort a person has all the time rather than now and then — the shoulder that always aches, the headache that is always somewhere nearby. It comes from a moment on his past that he is stuck in, and the body keeps reporting that old moment.

Usage
A person who has had the same lower-back ache for fifteen years, with no injury that accounts for it, is carrying a chronic somatic. Finding the moment he is stuck in tends to do more for it than treating the back.
Why It Matters
A pain that never varies is behaving less like an injury and more like a recording. That is why auditing addresses when it started rather than where it hurts.
