TECHNIQUE 88

A 1952 body of technique covering the handling of a person as a spiritual being rather than as a body. It is not one procedure — there is a technique inside it for very nearly everything, and anything to do with handling the being can be counted as part of it.

From the AOGP Abridged Scientology Dictionary — based on original LRH source materials, updated through 1982.

Usage

When something in the 1952 material is described as falling under Technique 88, it means it belongs to the work on the person himself rather than on his body. It is a heading as much as a procedure.

Why It Matters

This is the point at which the subject openly stopped being about the mind alone. It was delivered in Philadelphia at the end of 1952.
