TECHNIQUE 80

A 1952 technique dealing with harmful acts, with the things that then seem to justify them, with being, and with the anatomy of indecision — of "maybe". Its practice is to be each area of life in turn until you can be the whole of it. The 8 stands for infinity and the 0 for zero: to be, or not to be.

From the AOGP Abridged Scientology Dictionary — based on original LRH source materials, updated through 1982.

Usage

It can be applied to bodies, to one lifetime, or to a much longer span. The name is read as the two ends of a choice rather than as the number eighty.

Why It Matters

Indecision, rather than a wrong decision, is what holds people in place. Naming it and addressing it directly is what this technique introduced.
