STAFF MEMBER
Anyone employed in an organization, whether an executive or general staff. A staff member holds a named job with duties set down in writing, and is judged by what he actually produces on that job rather than by how well he is liked.

Usage
Someone joining an organization is given a specific post with a specific product, not a general role. A staff member should be judged by his effective action on post, not on his charm or personality towards other staff members.
Why It Matters
Naming what each person is there to produce is what stops an organization becoming a group of busy people producing nothing. The standard cuts both ways: it protects the quiet producer as much as it exposes the popular one who produces nothing.
