SELF-DETERMINISM
Deciding your own actions. It is the state in which a person can be controlled by what is around him or not, according to his own choice. A self-determined person is confident in handling the physical world and the people in it.
From the AOGP Abridged Scientology Dictionary — based on original LRH source materials, updated through 1982.
Usage
Someone who can go along with a plan he did not make, and equally decline one, is self-determined. Someone who must always comply, or must always refuse, is not — both are being decided for.
Why It Matters
The basic ingredient of it is being able to place yourself in time and space, which is why processes that handle location have such an effect on it. War can only happen where self-determinism has been outlawed.
