PREMATURE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
From the AOGP Abridged Scientology Dictionary — based on original LRH source materials, updated through 1982.
Usage
Premature acknowledgement occurs when a listener makes agreeable noises, nods, or acknowledges before the speaker has finished saying everything they intend to say. This causes the speaker to forget what they were talking about, feel dull, and eventually become cross and ARC broken.
Why It Matters
Professional auditors are specifically trained not to give premature acknowledgements because doing so prevents the preclear from completing their communication. In auditing, letting the preclear fully express what they intended to say is essential for the process to work.
