OFF-LINE

An adjective which describes a dispatch or communication in any organization or from one organization to another which is sent to the wrong person for handling. It should only be routed back to the sender.

From the AOGP Abridged Scientology Dictionary — based on original LRH source materials, updated through 1982.

Usage

If a staff member in the Treasury Division receives a dispatch meant for the Qualifications Division, that dispatch is off-line because it was sent to the wrong person for handling. The correct action is to route it back to the sender so it can be directed properly.

Why It Matters

Keeping communications on-line ensures that dispatches reach the person who can actually handle them, preventing delays and confusion in organizational operations. Off-line traffic wastes staff time and slows production across the organization.
