OPENING PROCEDURE OF 8-C

A process in which the person moves his body around the room under the auditor's direction until he is genuinely in contact with the things in it — able to pick out a particular spot on a wall and know he is picking it out. It works by making and breaking contact with the physical world, on purpose.

From the AOGP Abridged Scientology Dictionary — based on original LRH source materials, updated through 1982.

Usage

The auditor directs the person to a wall, has him touch it, then directs him elsewhere, over and over. Once he finds he can take hold of the physical world and let go of it at will, he can also let go of pieces of his own past.

Why It Matters

This is one of the most-used processes in the subject and one of the easiest to see working. A person who arrives foggy and leaves clearly in the room has just had it demonstrated.
