AUDITING COMMUNICATION CYCLE

The communication cycle used in auditing. It consists of (1) The auditor observes the preclear to see if the preclear is ready to receive the auditing question; (2) The auditor asks the preclear the question; (3) The auditor observes the preclear to see if the preclear has received the question; (4) The preclear looks into his bank and finds an answer to the question; (5) The preclear tells the auditor (who listens attentively) the answer to the question; (6) The auditor acknowledges the preclear for answering the question; (7) The auditor observes the preclear to see that the preclear has received the acknowledgement.

Usage

An auditor using the auditing communication cycle first checks that the preclear is ready, asks the question, observes that it was received, waits for the preclear to look into his bank for an answer, listens to the answer, acknowledges it, and confirms the preclear received the acknowledgement. Each of these seven steps must be done in sequence for the cycle to be complete.

Why It Matters

The auditing communication cycle is the precise mechanism by which auditing produces results. If any step is skipped or done poorly, the preclear may not fully answer or may feel unacknowledged, reducing the effectiveness of the session.
