SANITY

The ability to evaluate similarities and differences.

From the AOGP Abridged Scientology Dictionary — based on original LRH source materials, updated through 1982.

Usage

A person demonstrating sanity can look at two things and accurately identify how they are similar and how they are different. The inability to properly evaluate similarities and differences leads to confused thinking and poor decisions.

Why It Matters

This definition provides a measurable standard for mental health in Scientology: the ability to correctly evaluate similarities and differences. Auditing and training both work to improve this ability, directly increasing a person's rationality and competence.
