Keep it so." Originally published by L. Ron Hubbard in December 1957 as part of his introduction to The Clear Procedure, Issue One, the full passage reveals a meaning that has little to do with money. LRH wrote, "If I have fought for a quarter of a century, most of it alone, to keep this work from serving to uphold the enslavers of man, to keep it free from some destructive pitch or slant, then you certainly can carry that motif a little further." The word "free" here means free from control, free from co-option, free from organizational dictatorship — not absent of exchange. Context is everything, and taking a single line out of its surrounding text has led to decades of misapplication. We draw a modern parallel to open-source software licensing — specifically Telegram's model, where the code is available but protected by responsible stewardship. LRH funded his own research from personal income, then turned the organizational reins over to others in the late 1960s so he could continue the research line.
