From the AOGP Abridged Scientology Dictionary — based on original LRH source materials, updated through 1982.

Usage

In auditing, a preclear may encounter incidents where implants were used — painful, forceful experiences designed to overwhelm a being with false purposes and artificial concepts intended to control and suppress him.

Why It Matters

Implants are significant in auditing because the artificial purposes installed through them can drive a person's behavior without their awareness. Addressing implants helps free a being from purposes and concepts that are not his own.
